Welcome

As ideology shifts, funding structures reflect these changes and, amidst calls by government and sections of the media for austerity measures, philanthropy and corporate engagement in the arts, it has become apparent that the manner by which artists address the issue of making a living needs to undergo a significant shift. New ways of existing within this changing landscape are essential and, thankfully, in an evolved state of development.

First precipitated by, then incubated within, the cosy womb of Conservative arts policy, The Artist plc is proud to adopt its position as an existential signpost for other art makers and creatives. Through extensive market research we have developed a restructured model of artistic subjectivity, one in which she or he operates, in effect, as a small-scale company. By disregarding the artist as a psychological entity; we present a mode of artistic being that is significantly more steady and confident of its place in the global economy than the fickle, flexible and in flux framing of the artist that has historically manifest. In other words, we present a form of artistic identity much more akin to the stable identity of a corporation.

Although it was only a little over two short years ago, as recent as April 2013, that Maria Miller declared that ‘When times are tough and money is tight, our focus must be on culture’s economic impact”, the impetus to equate cultural value with economic value was already firmly consolidated both within Arts Council England and elsewhere. It is with no small sense of pride that we take our place within this fine tradition of the financial valuation of aesthetics, and hope that you too will find overwhelming satisfaction in the entrepreneurial products and services we provide.

Please feel free to browse our products and services and read our manifesto. We are constantly on the lookout for new merchandise and team members, so please contact our Corporate Relations department if you have a product that demonstrates innovation and market appeal and wish to discuss distribution franchise.
